Zakk Beaulieu: Absorbed by Beauty
I was in central France in a region called l’Ardèche. My younger cousins and I were at the pool, which was situated on top of a hill. When the sky became darker, we knew dinner time was soon, so we got our belongings and headed back home. When I walked out of the pool area, I saw a beautiful blue-hued mountain range stretching along the horizon in the distance. The shorter mountains that were in the front appeared in a darker blue than the taller mountains juxtaposed behind it, which were a lighter blue. It seemed as if the mountains in the distance were painted on a canvas with watercolor. It was surreal to me. I stopped there to let this beautiful sight absorb me into it. This scene had no strong, bright, complex colors, but it was the simplicity, pureness, and consistency of the colors that were so captivating. I felt an overwhelming sense of vulnerability and organicness, which made my eyes water. It felt so easy, even effortless, to gaze at the mountains, my eyes could relax and fixate on them. I could feel my heart radiating, or maybe what I felt was the vibration and radiating energy of the beauty that I was witnessing. Beauty manifested itself through his mountain range at dusk, and I submitted to its awe and beauty.
