Aleena Norris 4/11/2024: Beauty in Photography

I have been photographing people and places for almost four years. I've always loved taking pictures of people, because I loved making one feel beautiful. My ability to capture someone in their raw, vulnerable form means more to me than any posed, superficial form. Photographs are more than just the picture portrayed in them. I captured a senior session this past weekend for a Great Bridge senior on her family's farm. She ran around in her favorite dresses, drew in her sketchbook, and watched the clouds while I captured it all. The pictures were taken in the same spots that she learned to fish when she was 3 and learned to climb a tree with her cousin when she was 7. My editing style is very warm and moody, bringing out the emotions in the picture. And I know that her and her mother will treasure these pictures for eternity. Not because of my ability, but because of the way that photography can capture not just a scene, but an emotion, freezing a moment, and those that came before it, in time.
