Sara Rice: 1/23/24 lecture reflection- mimicry
During this lecture we discussed unique experiences and how they can often not be mimicked in the same way. In the class example, it was mentioned that a party setting can have a specific “vibe” that makes it unique to everyone. However other times, there can be no material change but the “vibes” just aren’t there in the same way. Upon reflecting on this I was able to think about this slightly differently. In my opinion, what makes experiences so memorable and special is the fact that the aura of it is unique. If we could experience the same things over and over again in the exact same way they would lose their uniqueness to us. In a broader sense, what makes life beautiful and worth living is the fact that there is no mimicry. Even identical twins share differences between them that make them unique. In relationships with others, the beautiful and attractive aspects about them are the unique aspects. This reflection caused me to look at life differently and appreciate that no two experiences will be the same. In this respect, it makes even unpleasant experiences more positive in the way that I can only experience this exact same situation once.
