The Beauty of A Hurricane
There’s a unique kind of beauty in storms that you just can’t find anywhere else. I’m all about being out there when the weather goes south, especially when it’s still warm. The more intense the storm, the more alive it feels. One such example that stands out to me is the beauty I found in Sandy’s wake was not just in the visual spectacle but in the sense of connection to something greater. Van der Leeuw speaks to this in his exploration of the holy in art, where the profound and the mundane dance in a delicate balance. This dance was never more apparent to me than during Hurricane Sandy, a nasty hurricane that both ravaged and cleansed, leaving behind a canvas where every fallen tree and flooded yard became a part of a larger artwork.
